Subject:Acid 7.0a (Build 536) Crashing Constantly/Chopper

Hello, Acid keeps crashing at least 60% of the time when I use the chopper. No other previous versions (Acid 4,5,6) ever did this. I thought it might be my computer, but I reloaded Acid 6, and I have zero issues with 6. This occurs when I bring in a MP3, beat map it, then start to cut and paste. I have not tried it with a WAV file as of yet, but I plan on doing that here shortly. I will give my specs below. Thank You. Asus Rampage Formula Quad Core 2.6, 8g ram, Vista Home Premium 64, Dual 24 inch Acer monitors, Asus 1gb Vid Card, Asus onboard sound card (for now) Jack info@jackmillz.com |

Just loaded a WAV file, and its doing the same thing. Its getting to the point where I don't want to use Acid 7, because I keep losing work. Please look into this. |

I just got off the phone with Sony customer support. Dont waste your breath calling them...they give no valued information. How many of you knew previously that Sony Acid 7 does not support a 64 bit operating system? I sure didn't. But the funny thing is, Acid 6 works flawlessly on my 64 bit system. You would think that Sony, being a leader in technology, would help someone who spent the $300 for Acid 7. Wrong. This is just like the issues with M Audio and their sound cards. They have been promising 64 bit drivers for almost 2 years, and still no stable driver. All in all, I think the chopper crashing problem is NOT related to my 64 bit system, but it lies in a bug within Acid 7. Acid 6 runs flawlessly, and that proves my point. |

Ouch. Sony just announced they are cutting 16,000 jobs worldwide. I hope this doesn't affect Acid development. Randy |

How many of you knew previously that Sony Acid 7 does not support a 64 bit operating system? ACID Pro 7 is not a 64 bit application. We do support ACID Pro 7 on Vista 64 as a 32 bit application. We tested considerably on this platform. (Note it also will work on XP64, but we do not support it on that platform. It even runs on the Windows 7 beta - 32 or 64 bit version.) We are looking into the problems you are having with the chopper. As soon as there is something to report I or somebody else on the team will post back to give an update. Thanks Peter |

I too have the same issue (and know I'm not alone). My 7.0a crashes whenever I use the chopper or the general tab in the clip properties (playback in the stretch tab to adjust tempo works fine). I'm working with beatmapped mp3 files when this happens. I'm using WIndows XP SP3 and Acid 6 works fine. My only workaround has been to draw out the entire event on the grid & solo it to choose the parts I want. |

We are trying to reproduce the crashes you have reported, but have not met with success yet. This issue is in our bug database, but if we are unable to reproduce the problem we will not be able to isolate the source of the problem and fix it. The more information you can provide to help us isolate the steps required to reproduce these crashes the better. If you get a crash dump, posting it would be very useful to us. The workflow we are investigating is: 1) Create new ACID project 2) Import .mp3 file via double click in ACID's media explorer window 3) Run the Beatmapper Wizard 3a) (Optionally) Define tempo changes within the imported file in the Clip Properties Stretch tab. 4) Select the Clip in the Chopper 5) Make a time selection in the Chopper 6) Use the "Insert" toolbar button to create an event in the track 7) Use the mouse to drag and drop the selection to create an event in the track 8) Make a new time selection, repeat steps 6 - 8 There is a missing step or something about your projects or setup that we need to identify if we are to be able to fix this issue. This report may be related to the one in this thread: http://www.sonycreativesoftware.com/forums/ShowMessage.asp?ForumID=1&MessageID=639333 Audio playback from the Chopper, Clip Properties, and ACID's Media Explore utilize the same code-path. We still have not been able to reproduce the "crash" being reported in this thread. Using the information from the linked thread we have been able to "hang" the app... it "locks up" and becomes unresponsive, although it is very inconsistent. We are analyzing the required conditions to reproduce the hung state, allowing us to fix this issue. If anyone who has been plagued by the problem outlined in this thread could reply as to whether they are "crashing" vs. "hanging" it would be helpful. Again, if you obtain a crash dump, please post it here. We may be able to use that information to address this issue. Thanks, --j Message last edited on2/12/2009 1:30:45 PM byForumAdmin. |

Mine seems much more prone to crashing if I have a video file in the project ... |
