I've been having all sorts of random issues (including CPU spiking, glitching, etc.) when I use my ProFire 2626 interface that magically go away when I just use ASIO4All and the onboard sound on my laptop. So I'm HOPING that this is a ricoh 1394 chipset issue on my Sony TZ laptop and if I buy an expresscard 1394 interface with a TI chipset things will improve. I've "heard" that Belkin and ADS have 1394 chipsets, but when I look them up on newegg ( http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=40000421+1208419865& Description=expresscard&name=IEEE+1394+ExpressCard_) they both have pretty bad reviews. Is anybody out there using an expresscard 1394 interface with a TI chip? Can you recommend/dis-recommend it? |

darrena, FWIW, there are probably no more finiky apps than Pro Tools as far as PC hardware compatibility goes and Digidesign specifically requires 1394 cards with TI chipsets. Greg |
