Subject:Kitcore and Volume envelopes?

The Kitcore interface has its own "Kit Volume" slider which works for overall volume, but neither the Acid Track Header Volume Slider nor the Volume envelope seem to have any effect.

I have a midi recording for Verses which I use several times in a song, but in the very last verse I want to not hear the very last drum kick. Reducing the envelope to zero before the last kick has no effect.

I know I can do this by creating a different midi recording for the last verse, but why doesn't the envelope work?

The controls on ACID's MIDI tracks send MIDI CC msgs to control a soft-synths (or external synth) volume and pan.

Kitcore not listen to MIDI Continous controller messages for Volume or pan. It also does not expose VST controlable parameters. The only way to control the volume of Kitcore is through the Soft-synth bus in ACID or through Kitcore's provided volume control.

The ACID synth bus will permit you to use envelopes, while the Kitcore provided control is a single static volume setting.

Thank you Peter. That works fine.

Is this something particular to Kitcore or is it to do with the type of soft synth? For instance, the Kompakt Soft Synth responds ok to track volume envelopes.

This seems to be unique to KitCore. Synths like Kompakt have no problem at all responding to the track volume fader or a volume envelope.

It is particular to the soft-synth. It depends on whether any given soft-synth responds to CC msgs for volume.

In the case of Kitcore it probably has to do with that it has over all volume vs MIDI channel volume. Also note that Kitcore has individual controls for each pad. Again, not something that is exposed at either the MIDI channel or VST parameter control level.

I am not aware of any other soft-synth that does not listen to vol/pan CC msgs, but I am sure there are some. Note that some soft-synths may listen to CC's for vol/pan, but they don't use the standard CC mgs for Vol/Pan. ACID permits you to remap any CC msg to vol/pan to accomodate such plug-ins.
