Subject:Acid Music Studio 7.0 Drum Kit

Hi, when I add an MIDI track and select a drum kit the notes sound like a piano. All of the other Guitar, Bass, Sound Effects categories work fine though. All of the drumkits sound like a piano or organ. Is this a defect?

*Edit ~ I was playing some Sound Effects and the Screaming, Laughing, Car Stop, Car Crash all sounded like the Helicopter effect as well. Things seem to be mixed up, but I need the drum kits... maybe if I reinstall?

How are you selecting a drum kit patch?

From the Track?

From the DLS Soft-synth property page?

What MIDI channel is the MIDI track assigned to?

Hi, this is exactly what I did:

Insert >> select MIDI Track >> Click the Program Button on the track list (the image of 3 piano keys labeled Piano 1) >> select Drum Kits >> select Standard.

Then I enable MIDI Editing, scroll down to Hand Clap, Snare, Drum Kick etc... The sounds I get is some type of piano or organ... The whole list of the Standard drum kits' Snares, Claps etc... is just different notes on a piano/organ.

This is the same for all of the drum kits(Standard, Jazz, Power, etc...). I just purchased this software so I might be missing something. I just followed the help files for selecting a drum kit.

Are you running Vista?

If so....

There is a bug in Microsofts DirectMusic softsynth, which ACID uses.

The bug prevents program/patch/voices to be changed. We are looking into the problem, but do not know if there is a workaround yet.

If you are using XP, I cannot reproduce the problem.

One work around you might want to try.

Assign your MIDI track to MIDI Channel 10 for output.

Then open the DLS Soft-synth and select a drum patch that does NOT have a bank number, just a program/voice number.
