Subject:Bug? Assignable FX and Plug-In Chooser Window

In the mixer window I can instantiate plug ins in the assignable fx buss ... but if the "Show Buss" is checked in the project window and I hit the icon to open the "Plug-in Chooser" window ... when it's open you can't open any of the folders and therefore you can't add plug-ins.

I am not clear as to what you are doing.

What is the "Show Buss" that you have checked? What is the "project window"?

Thanks

Perhaps you call it the 'Tracks' window ... anyway, the main window at the top of Acid where the tracks sit.

From the main view menu you can select "Show Bus Tracks" so that busses and soft synths, and now assignable fx show up in a bottom section of the main window above the master fader..

Is that clear?

Ok ... the little icon that has been used to insert effects on tracks (and everywhere else) also shows up in the assignable FX track ... as it still does everywhere else. It is greyed when not in use, green when effects are inserted and yellow on some occasions.

That icon opens the "plug-in chooser" window. When you do this from the assignable fx track you cannot select any plug-ins.

I follow you now.

I am not able to reproduce your problem:

Exactly what I did:

- Type "b" to open the Bus Tracks view.
- Right cllick in this area and select "Insert Assignable FX..."

This presents the normal FX plug-in chooser. I can access any and all FX folders and select the plug-in I desire. I can then double click on it or press the Add button

What I did notice is the following:

If I selected the "All" folder, the plug-ins display, but there can be a delay as ACID sorts them out. I then closed with out selecting any plugin.

If I go back to the chooser, the chooser appears to be stuck. This is happening as it is resorting the list. If I wait a bit, the sorting is completed and I can then access the folders and list.

With a large number of plug-ins installed, this delay can be long. I am looking at this, as it is definitely a problem.

Thank you, Peter.

Yeah, when I waited about 2 minutes it 'unfroze.'

You didn't reply below to my answer about how many plug-ins I have.

Is there sort of a critical limit you've identified before it's "too many," or is this the same issue as discussed here and definitely on your "to do" list?

There is no critical limit. We fully expect to handle anything a user throws at it. Obviously the more plug-ins one has the more time to sort and display.

2 minutes in your case is definitely a problem. We are looking at the problem.

An unrelated question:

Your system spec indicates you use an EMU card.

Are you experiancing any problems with the EMU and ACID 7?

What driver version are you using with the EMU?

Thanks

Thank you for you attention to detail.

I am not currently using the EMU 1616M. It is the 'road' setup for my laptop. I have demoed on my 'docked' laptop with ASIO4ALL and on my desktop with Echo Layla 24.

I have identical issues on both systems ... although many less plugs on the laptop
