Subject:AP7 bug when dragging clips onto a different track

Every time i drag a existing clip/sample on the timeline onto a track above or below, it shrinks the sample from its original length to a tiny snippet. This means I have to drag it back to its original length, which, as i often import whole tracks and go through snipping bits on the fly, can be a right royal pain in the behind.

This means I usually end up just cutting and pasting like i used to in previous versions, thus wasting AP7's new found ability. Am i missing something? Or is it just a bug?

I believe it's a documented bug that Sony knows about.

Wow. Do any Sony reps have any comment, or rather, excuses to make?

That's an astoundingly obvious bug to miss. Maybe they should release betas to Acid users for preliminary testing, rather than making them pay for beta software. Unbelievable.

It was the first thing I and at least one other person tried with the demo when we first installed it.

At least you can drag events between tracks now - which should really have been a capability of Acid Pro 6.

Well, you could always copy and paste to a different track in AP6, which i did alot. But thanks to this bug I'm STILL doing that.

Do Sony actually test their software pre-release? Sonic Foundry were alot more responsive when they were at the helm....

This behavior:

"Every time i drag a existing clip/sample on the timeline onto a track above or below, it shrinks the sample from its original length to a tiny snippet."

is known and is specific to one-shots. This has been resolved for the 7.0a update which should be available soon.

Have you seen this for anything other than one-shots?

Thanks,

Strange question - No, they just spew out random zeros and ones and hope it works, wadderyarekkon?.

And surely you have noticed how many responses there have been since the AP7 release - be reasonable if you expect others to be.

Peter - I've been using Acid Pro since Version 3 and every release has been dogged with bugs from the outset. It's pretty disappointing to spend yet more cash on the program and find that obvious, blatant bugs are still to the fore. That I expect the newest version to be the least buggy, most refined version yet is far from unreasonable.

I haven't noticed it happening with other samples, but i use ALOT of one-shots as my music is almost 100% built from samples.
