Vegas uses whatever fonts you have available in Windows. Grab any TruType fonts you can find anywhere, install them in Windows, and Vegas will see them.

Every once in a while I come across a font that doesn't work in Vegas. Try sticking with TrueType fonts as Kelly said. They usually work. Not a whole lot you can do about your font that doesn't show except open a problem ticket. Some fonts just have issues.

Orbitron as a true type font, TTF, or open type font, OTF, DOES normally show up in Vegas 11 Movie Studio 12. And, they are both useable. (I'd suggest the TTF format.)

Three things to check if you cannot find them:

1. It seems obvious, but make sure you're reading your font list correctly - it's ORBITRON not OBITRON; and shows up near the end of the O's on a typical Windows operating system. In a test I did, twice, someone couldn't find it on the list of fonts, simply because they were looking at the top of the O list as opposed to the bottom. For some reason they were looking for 'obitron'.

2. Make sure it's actually installed. Search it by name in the Start window or go to your fonts folder. If you see it, you may STILL have to install it. Click its file and then click 'install'. Your system shouldn't need a reboot, but some applications do need a reboot to recognize new fonts. I have thousands of fonts on my system but not all are installed.

3. Every application on a 'normal' computer' has a limit to the number of fonts it can call up. I saw the limit for Vegas once, and it wasn't that high (neither is MS Word's limit. Do you have MS Word? Does it show up there?). If you have some doubts because you got greedy and installed way too many fonts, I'd start here.

4. If you're not on a WIndows operating system, there could be other problems to recognize it.

Anyhow, I can confirm, unless the font file is corrupt - unlikely - it's one of the above problems. I used it once to relpicate the 'zero gravity' bathroom instructions from 2001. LOL (I ended up using a different font later that was closer to the original.)

i've only installed a half dozen or so extra fonts than come preinstalled with windows 8 x64 pro upgrade. however several of them do not show up in home studio 12.

i actually had one that i used in one project and saved to a text overly template tha tno longer renders the font in the timeline or rendered video.

these are all TTF fonts, they all work in GIMP and open office. one or two have previously worked in home studio 12 running on win8 but no longer show up in the list nor render in the preview or finished project if saved in a text media template.

any way to force vegas to look for them?
