Bradly posted prior:

Steps:
1. Goto Options>Preferences>Audio Tab
2. Set Acid Type for Recorded Audio to: "One-Shot"
3. Split out a section of a previously recorded take, and select the new clip you created.
4. Set Loop brackets outside of selected clip.
5. Enable Loop playback.
6. Hit Record and let Acid record more than one Clip in the loop record mode you set up.

Acid erases ALL clip takes, except for the last take!!! If you have 4 takes....they're ALL the same take, which is the last one recorded.

For some reason Vegas is able to do this properly and so does Reaper. Vegas doesn't have midi. If I reported a bug like this to the Reaper developers, it wouldn't take them over a year to fix it, and they wouldn't force me to pay for the next version for a bug fix, which should have been fixed in the previous version.

What I've done to try to repro...

-Vista 64 SP1. [all updates installed]
Two Intel Xeon Quad CPU E5420@2.5GHz 12mb L2 cache
Supermicro x7dae mobo
8 gigs of ram
Four 500GB western digital HD [32mb buffer] [or maybe seagate???]
Nvidia GeForce 8600GT
Echo Audiofire4 driver 4.8
800watt power supply

-buffer set to 384 samples=8ms.

-24bit 44.1hz

-3 busses [my project default always has 3 busses ready to go]

-set up preferences to "one shot" as stated above.

-empty project.

-add audio track. [right click track list and choose "insert audio track"]

-Add Guitar rig 3 [version 3.11.010]

-add distortion preset and tweak to taste...I use the "high quality" mode for cooler tone.

-setup loop region for 8 measures and set it to loop playback.

-arm track.

-play my guitar to make sure I can hear myself.

-click on the metronome button.

-click the "metronome countoff" button.

-set the metronome countoff to "countoff always on" and "one bar countoff".

-click record button.

-playing guitar.

-I play 6 times through the loop region and stop.

-save file.

-unarm track.

-press play.

-click on the recorded event and hit the "C" key as it's playing back to scroll through the clips.

-Stop playback.

-split the wave file at measure 5.

-click on the event thats from measure 5 to the end of the loop region.

-click on the the "go to start button".

[this will now have the loop start at measure one and will loop till stopped...but will only record "punch in/out" from measure 5-8]

-arm track again.

-press record button.

-I recorded 5 passes and stopped plus saved.

I now see in the audio tracks "paint clip selector" 11 clips.

I can click the "C" key on either audio event and pull up any of the 11 clips.

BUG 1: The metronome seems to drop out at the very end around measure 8 but starts again at the beginning of the loop.

BUG 2: The clip names are funny. The first 6 are named "9clip1, 9clip 2,9clip 3,etc"...The last 5 were named "10clip1,10clip 2,etc"...

Anyone else have anything to add. I'll try to break it in another way.

Ed.

-update:no matter what the length of time the metronome always stops playing a measure or so at the end prior to looping to the beginning of the region.

I'm up to track three and I'm layering guitar parts.

All have guitar rig 3 with the same preset setup.

-I painted a 20 measure event on the third track.

-split it up every 4 measures...= 5 events.

-set the loop region to loop around this.

-set loop play back.

-ctrl+click 2nd and last event.

-click on "go to start" button.

-arm track.

-click record button.

-record a bunch of passes.

-stop and save.

It works as the last time. I even repeated these steps and selected different events...same result.

Can anyone help this "idiot" repro bradlys bug?

Ed.

Again any takers would like to add to my steps?

Is anyone having problems with recording audio in any way?

Ed.

No problems over here as of yet...but I will try and repro based upon your steps.

Were you using an Input Bus for Guitar Rig or just adding it as an effect to your Audio Track?

Cheers!
