Kinky please read this first...

http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html

Now the only way to quickly be able to repro a bug is a step by step walkthrough.

What were you doing when this happened?

What are you project settings?

# of audio/midi tracks.

Fx plugins and instuments used.

Routing of audio.

What were you clicking when it happened?

See how complex it could get?

A little more info dude.

HTH.

Did you report the fault to tech support ? You should always do that first - the forums are a secondary outlet !

I started too but I didn't have the machine I use for music booted up and don't know some of the answers to the required fields.
I'm having a lot of trouble with this upgrade. the pg will be giving for a while then it will crash every 5 minutes. even on projects that are new with only a few audio tracks. stopping and starting the play back works intermittently with reason when I have it rewired to Pro7.
I'm just going to wait it out for updates until I have had enough and switch to another product even though I have been using ACID since 1999.

"I'm just going to wait it out for updates until I have had enough and switch to another product even though I have been using ACID since 1999."

Good decision and a lot less frustration. From what I'm seeing in these early reports, AP7 won't be ready for the real-world for quite awhile. I'm guessing that I'll finally try the demo around Spring 09 - perhaps update c or d.

Cheers

Good advice. Don't put any effort in describing how you made it crash. Then when he comes back later he finds out that his individual workflow is what crashed acid and no one caught it. So he stays pissed.

Look...say we were in the reaper forum.

You loaded up 2.53 and in a minute or two made it crash. Posted a dump and said that's it...justin figure it out on your own.

You think he or anyone could do so in a timely manner?

Kinky best of luck to you. I hope that in my usage of AP7 that I stumble upon a crash that is similar to yours so that when you use the next update it works for you.

Ed.

I have it up and running right now and it's running wonderfully *crossing my fingers with hopes that it don't crash while i type this*. it's even letting me copy and paste properly. LOL, who knows?, maybe it had to warm up to the abuse i'm used to giving it?

What do you mean by this?

Kinky do you mean the "track list" area???

This would be the furthest left area where you see the audio/midi track controls.

Did you press on a key or clicked on a icon in acid to move to the beginning of the timeline and it went there instead?

kinky,

Just a simple explination of what you were doing when this happened would be a good start.

Any details about your project - FX used, any softsynths, etc,

What audio hardware are you using?

Are you using any MIDI hardware?

What OS are you running on? XP? Vista?

Could you fill out your system specs in your user profile?

Thanks
Peter

Yes, i do mean the track list area. It happened right after I added an Effect plug in (the only 1 in this project) then whent back to the main ACID window.

Which FX plug? Was it added to a track or a bus?

Peter

It just crashed on me again with the same code. I got to use it for about ten minutes in a project i started yesterday. I added a new track added z3ta fx to it. added some filter automation with SONY Eq and added some automated volume changes. then compied and pasted a piece from another track down to that one and added more volume and eq autmation. hit stop back to the begining of the project and hit play.

kinky,
go back to Shunout's list. You see people rant about a program crashing, but there has to be a reason. 7 is running stable for me, so there is a reason it is crashing for you. Help us help you.

BTW, did you see the post about acid not supporting VSTi plugs as effects?

Like i had stated before, it will run perfect for a while then just crash repeatedly. Usually after I start rendering loops out that have effects.

Yes, I unserstand that instruments can't be run as FX but there are a few that are able to do both. Like z3ta, absynth 4 and Dominator.

I'm not sure why 7 is unstable for me. The most recent error I have encountered referr to Reffernce Memory. I have no idea what that is.

Thank you all for what help I have recieved thus far.

kinky: we can help you a LOT better if you help us just a little. Please look at SonyPCH's post and answer every one of his questions. He knows ACID better than anyone else on the planet. Also please fill in your system specs on your profile. Many of the problems you have could be due to your hardware configuration and other software you have installed.

Until we get those answers we're only guessing, and that doesn't help much.

I'm glad you pointed out that my system specs were not there. I did update them last night. They must not have been saved to my pfile.

EDIT TO ADD; my specs have been updated. i missed submitting them.
