Peter - if you're reading this at all, hats off to you and the rest of the team and many thanks! All is forgiven. :)

Finally...after 1 1/2 years of suffering with a version of AP6 that wouldn't work with my hardware and OS, I downloaded the AP7 demo. To my delight it all works perfectly on my new Vista machine with my Steinberg audio interface. I am ecstatic. The ASIO drivers for my MI4 loaded perfectly and the routing works like a charm. Good incoming on all inputs and zero latency or drop outs. WOW!! I can't believe it.

I spent a lot of time griping in the last few months, so in all fairness I now need to say good things. I love the new mixer console. The metronome count-in is a great addition. AND I can actually monitor my violin with sends enabled and hear the sends FX in real time w/ no latency, which I couldn't do at all in AP before. I could only monitor the insert FX in real time in AP before this version...and...did I mention it works? It really works!! LOL - I am over the moon!

Wow! Well, in all honesty I guess my needs were modest compared to others - I just wanted a version that worked, so all of these other features are gravy on the meat loaf! Now if the upgrade would drop to $99...o well I guess I shouldn't be greedy! It finally WORKS!!

Happy in AZ

Glad to hear it.

Tell me the same thing in a few weeks, and I will really be happy.

Thanks,
Peter
PS: Do yourself a favor: Make a ghost or backup of your system so that if you get into problems with new software/hardware, you have a known good working setup.

Installation went without a hitch, media manager loaded and accesses my old loop library, softsynths work even with my persnickety Absynth 3, accesses my Soundforge (ehem) 7, look at all those meters. Haven't installed any of the third party stuff yet.

Regarding the mixing console, when the audio channel strips are showing, I can not drag the master levels to the far left of the console, is that just the way it goes?

Be opimistic. I am going to assume the best. I will create a restore point - dont have ghost software - is that the same thing?

O -yeah - I had the same question - is there any way to fix the position of the MASTER buss to the first position on the left of the mixer window?

Busses cannot be moved into the audio and MIDI track areas and visa versa. Another way to look at this is that channel types limit how they can be moved. This is consistent with how the time line is layed out: Tracks and Bus Tracks cannot be intermixed.
