Hi, i'm using SF8 to master and do minor edits to backing sequences that i've recorded in my DAW. I save them out as 320 kilobit mp3s to play from a Sony PSP. My question is, each time i do an edit and save it again is it re compressing the file, or in other words, am i losing quality with each subsequent save?

Yes.
You should be editing and saving uncompressed .wav files. Multiple saves will not affect their quality. Then render those to .mp3 to hear the results on your player.

Thanks, i suspected as much... I used to export from my DAW (Cubase 4) as .wav and then use it to do my edits but i just found it more convenient to run it out as mp3 but may have to look at changing back...

Thanks again for your reply,

T

Convenient rarely equals good.
