I am sure that this question has been posted and answered but I do not have the time to search so if someone has the time to help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. I am using a lightsnake cable and plugging in directly to my computer's own mic input. I do not have a special soundcard or any other programs just my acid pro 7 and my lightsnake. I have terrible latency issues and the more "takes" I do on a track the worse it gets. I can not seem to get the timing to stay constant and can not "back them up to zero" to match them up. Is there anything that I am missing like an interface or another program? I did find where to change the latency in acid but it did not help much at all. Any ideas?.......or better yet, SOLUTIONS????!!!!! I can go through my fostex 4 track but that is a step I am trying to avoid as I have to bounce each track seperately into acid and go from there.

Does the LightSnake cable have ASIO drivers. If so, use them (Options | Preferences | Audio Device | ASIO). If not, buy a sound card with ASIO drivers. That's the only way to get low latency with ACID.

The problem with a product like LightSnake is that it is only an input device. Because of this, it can only be loosely synchronized with your output signal. The input from the LightSnake is completely asynchronous with your sound cards audio output. There is no accurate way to align the input with the output.

In ACID Pro you can adjust the input to ouput using the settings on the Audio Device preference page. You can disable the option

"Automatically detect and offset for hardware recording latency" and the change the "User recording latency offset (ms)." setting.

This can sometimes account for such latency. However, it is indended to resolve timing problems against a single audio solution, not physcially different input and output hardware.

ASIO drivers would not be a solution for this type of hardware since it is an input only device and you could not hear what is on your time line playing back.

The LightSnake user forums has a post that also recommends a solution:
