I load a 44.1KHz 16-bit stereo wave file into SoundForge 9e, select and trim down to a small region (i.e. one second out of a 3 minute file) then re-sample to 48KHz and channel convert from stereo to mono. Next I select "Save As" from the file menu and save it. But it gets saved and reloaded as 44.1KHz stereo. Why? And after working with editing wave files for a while, I have discovered that I must be doing something very wrong. No matter what I do to edit a file (except trim) it alwasy gets saved in the original format. Note that I am note working with FRG files yet. I just load a wave file and save it out after editing. But the change doesn't stick for some reason. Message last edited on10/19/2008 2:37:54 PM byRickD. |

Try saving to a different filename. Does that work? My guess is that you copied these files from a CD to your hard drive. When Windows does this it marks the files as read-only. Odd though, if this was the case, that SoundForge didn't give you an error message. |
