I've got an old SB live Platinum card that I'd like to upgrade. I want to get something with ASIO drivers to help with latency when running multiple VSTis, but I don't actually record into or from my PC. I just render everything to stereo or mono, dependingon the application. So, I just need a card that has low latency for handling the VSTis that I'm running. I've heard that the SB ASIO cards aren't good, because of the audio interface, but are they acceptable if I'm not really using it for recording? Is there another card ont he market that I should be looking at that won't cost more than about $100 that has good ASIO implementation and a decent audio interface? |

Avoid anything SB. There are many pro cards avaliable. m-audio is probably the biggest. I use an echo midi mia. Message last edited on10/10/2008 3:39:09 PM byDKeenum. |

My only warning is to check for Vista drivers. I'm very disappointed with M-Audio who I've always liked in the past. They still don't have Vista 64 drivers for most of their cards so my M-Audio FW-410 is little more than a door stop on Vista 64. Plan ahead. ~jr Message last edited on10/10/2008 6:49:15 PM byJohnnyRoy. |
