Hi all, I noticed that Acid Pro 6 was recently lowered to $99 at Musicians Friend and Music123. Musicians Friend: http://pro-audio.musiciansfriend.com/product/Sony-ACID-Pro-6-Multitrack-Recording-Software?sku=703493 Music123: http://www.music123.com/Sony-ACID-Pro-6-Multitrack-Recording-Software-703493-i1154541.Music123 Could this be a signal that Acid Pro 7 is coming soon? Let's keep our fingers crossed. Ted Message last edited on10/9/2008 8:12:00 PM bytxharp3. |

Well...when the line item description reads: Sony ACID Pro 6 Multitrack Recording Software Closeout Accent on the word "Closeout"...sounds like it's the end of the line for that product. |

I guess this can mean the end of Acid or it could be a precursor to a new release. Typically a vendors does not lower the price before a release, they typically provide a grace period for the upgrade. For example, if you buy after this date the upgrade to the next release is free. The fact they did not do this leads me to believe it is the end of the product. |

Adding my voice to this ongoing debate about the existence of AP7. 'Could also mean that they are preparing a completely new product, still based on the concepts of Acid Pro. By closing-out the product like that at a very discounted price, it leaves Sony the flexibility to offer all their Acid Pro customers, including these last customers, just 1 uprgrade price and avoid another round of bitching. I'm getting the impression that Acid Pro must have gone through a complete re-write, so as to permit them to have the product better evolve concurrently with emerging technologies. To say the least, a staggering amount of work for the dev team Even if Sony eventually bring all the features of Acid Pro into Vegas, that would be fine with me. Don't ever forget Vegas first saw the light of day, not as an NLE, but as just a simple DAW. Many companies have taken this route, just look at Steinberg for example with Cubase and Nuendo. For those who don't need the NLE side of things just don't use that part of the program. I'm convinced something nice is on the horizon :) My two cents. Cheers |

Looks like some nice changes. Having a mixer facility is nice. Nothing revolutionary but certainly some of these feature are required in order for ACID to compete with its competitors that already have most if not all of these feature. I'm glad to see I was wrong! Just hope stability is there so I can actually use the product., There is no reference to improved performance or stability. But then again Sony has never admitted that any stability issues exist. Anyway, congrats Sony. Message last edited on10/10/2008 12:43:04 PM byRickms. |

If it is $99.00...for those of you that do not have it, it may be cheaper to purchase Acid Pro 6 for 99.00 and then buy the upgrade to Acid 7! Usually, Acid is $400.00 and the upgrade is $200.00. Here, you would save $100.00! Purchase 6.0 for $99.00 and and then upgrade for $200.00 and get it all for $300.00! Glad I went to 4 1/2 years business school to figure this crap out! ~Ciao! |
