Subject:Setting "Record Input" default...

Hi all,

My setup is such that I’m solely recording from mics. So it would be great if I could set preferences such that when I “Arm” a track for recording, the “Recording Input” would default to “Mic In L / Mic In R”. At present it always defaults to “Analog Mix L / Analog Mix R”, which means every time I insert an audio track, I have to menu dive to select “Mic In L / Mic In R”. How can I set the default to be “Mic In L / Mic In R” instead of “Analog Mix L / Analog Mix R”?

Thx in advance!

Goto Option>Preferences>Audio Device Tab.

There you will see a "Default Audio Recording Device". Chose the one you want as the default for new tracks that you insert.

Thx for the reply,

I do not see "Default Audio Recording Device" on the "Audio Device" tab; I only see "Default Playback Device".

Do you have Acid Pro or Acid Music Studio? I have Acid Pro 6 and it appears as I described. I'm not sure what Music Studio has and doesn't have compared to Acid Pro. Also if you right click on a Track header/fader section you can set your "Default" Track type settings....maybe your version of Acid has it set up with that method which would make more sense then buried away in a preference menu like in Acid "Pro"?

What audio interface are you using? Perhaps it's controlled by your audio card's software. If you are just using the motherboard sound chip, go into the Windows Volume Control and set the default recording input from there. ACID should pick this up.

Thx for the replies, JohnnyRoy and BradlyMusic. I have since been informed that setting that particular default is not an available feature in Music Studio 7; it's only offered in ACID Pro.
