clicking when previewing tracks -ACID Product Family

When I preview any non-Acidized WAV files in the Explorer window, I hear clicks and dropouts every half-second or so. Doesn't matter if the files being previewed are at the exact same tempo as the project. If I bring them into the project and play them on a layer track, there's no skipping, only in the previews. As I said, it never happened in the past. Things might play at doiuble speed or sound distorted sometimes, but never with loud clicks like this. Can someone point me in the direction of what I might have done in either my Acid settings or soundcard settings? I have an M-Audio Delta 66, with pretty much default user settings.
