Subject:Open FLAC files in SF8.0 Possible using 9.0b plug?

I read in the release notes that SF9.0b added a FLAC file plug-in. I'm really not interested in the SF v9.0 release at this point. I'm holding off to see what v10 offers. What I'm wondering, is it possible to add the FLAC file plugin from v9.0b to SF 8.0 by dropping it into the FILEIO plugi-ns folder in the SF8 install directory?

I just got some FLAC files handed to me and I wanted to convert them to .Wav format. So I was either going to look for an audio file converter program or see if it was possible to do in SF8.0.

Thanks in advance!!!

It is indeed. Sound Forge 8.0 can then read and write FLAC files.

Well, this worked but I ran into one snag. I can now open FLAC files in SF8.0, but the problem is that I can't open FLAC files using the batch converter within Sound Forge 8. The Batch converter only lets you open "Known Media File" Types. So I tried running the SF9 batch converter within SF8...and I still got the same problem. So some how SF8 has to be told that FLAC is now a known media file type, since it doesn't seem to be within the batch converter script dll. I tried dragging and dropping the Flac.dll onto SF8.0 to register it. It registered but that didn't do the trick either.

So does anyone know how to make FLAC a "Known Media File" type in SF8?
