Trouble With Media Files

My Vegas for some reason doesn't play certain .wmv, or .avi, etc files.

Is there any kind of set up on vegas to fix it, and allow it to play all files? Or is there something wrong with my pc?

Don't know what's up with your WMV files, but there can be many flavors of AVI. DIVX-type AVIs, for instance, won't play until you install a codec for them.

Which operating system?

Did you just install Vegas?

If you created a video track in the timeline - Are you able to select Mainconcept MPEG-2 as output format?

How do I install codecs for Vegas to use? I have DivX files I need for reference for soundtrack synchronization.
