Vegas 6.0 + Vista

Hi all.

I have a Vista 64 bit machine and tried to install my Vegas Video 6.0, but I keep getting the Vegas requires Microsoft .NET Framework version 1.1.

Is there a way around this? I had this same issue with Sound Forge and had to upgrade. I am hoping that I don't have to fork out any more $$$ for an upgrade.

Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you

I just posted last night the same question so I can put SF8 on my Vista 64 machine on the SF and Vista forums. There is a way to put Net1.1 on Vista but I am not sure of all the little things to do that. Do a web search on Net1.1 vista install and you will find articles on how to do it. However, I would think Sony here in this forum would provide that information and fix the issue. OH I forgot they want us to buy the upgrade. Well, it is worth it on Vegas I think as I run 8b now. Not sure on SF. So watch each others threads and see what we come up with.

As far as Vegas Pro goes, that is the first version that they have committed to supporting on 32-bit Vista. There is NO version of Vegas that is written for or supported on a 64-bit operating system.

All that this really means is that SCS has made no commitment to support these combinations, so you have to rely on the experiences of other users.

The basic issue for buzz seems to be to get dot Net 1.1 installed on a 64-bit Vista system, and if that's possible it needs to be done manually rather than letting Vegas 6.0 do it.

OK, I decided what the heck just try and install. I read lots of articles from various forums to see what the issues were. I am running a new machine with Vista 64 SP1. If figured if Vista did not like it then it would tell me. Net1.1 installed and then I ran the update for Vista and it installed. Both gave a notice that there were issues with the program with Vista and to check online for resolutions before proceeding. Well I have been doing that for 2 days. So I said run. Both ran and installed. I then ran my SF8 to install and it went fine. Vegas 8b finds it fine as well. So twitching is over but I do wish Sony would POST things about this so we don't have to figure it out over and over and over on our own. Anyway, not sure this will work for others but it did for me. Thanks for the help.
