Tip for Neat Video users...

I just read on the Neat Video form the following which I was not aware of and figured this one would be an easy one for others to miss.

"Yes, using a small version of the frame is NOT acceptable for many reasons. One of them is that the noise properties of the normal frame and small version of the frame are absolutely different, so a noise profile built using a small version will not be right for processing the normal frame.

Therefore, please use the "Best (Full)" setting in Vegas viewer to build a profile and preview NV filtration. Otherwise, Vegas will send small versions of the frame to the NV plug-in and that is not what you want and not what NV expects."

Thanks for that - I've had pretty good results without changing preview settings, so now I'm looking forward to an even quieter time. [ less noise ;) ]

Excellent tip! I'm about to tackle a particularly difficult restoration job, so this tip was quite timely.

No problem glad I could help. This is one of those things they should have a dialog box pop up when you first open up the program because most people are not editing HDV in Best/Full mode.
