Subject:Trouble burning disc at once Posted by: morlando Date:8/3/2008 7:00:09 PM HI, I am burning a project using disc at once but it is cutting off the last 2-3 seconds of the music. Does anyone know why? I have burned it a few times but it does the same thing. Thanks

It's always a good idea to add anywhere from 1/2 second to 2 seconds of blank space at the beginning and end of audio CDs, since many CD players won't play the first and last several samples on a CD, and also because every CD burner and every CD player has a certain amount of hardware offset, meaning the digital audio samples aren't burned or read back exactly where they're supposed to be. Never mind how it works, but if, say, your burner has an offset of +800 samples and your player has an offset of -800 samples, then the combined 1600 sample offset can mean a tiny amount of missing music at both ends of your burned disc. Of course, even in this example, we're talking about a tenth of a second, not 2-3 seconds. But who knows how your CD player works? If you try ripping your CD with an audio ripper, does it also cut off the last 2 seconds? It shouldn't. So if even an audio ripper misses those last bits, then there is possibly something wrong with your CD burner. If the audio ripper does correctly rip those last 2 seconds, then the problem is most likely what I've awkwardly described in the first paragraph. Try adding silence at the beginning and end and see if the problem recurs. Note that most commercial CDs have between 1 and 2 seconds of silence at both ends.
