Subject:MIDI playback issues

I recently bought ACID Music Studio 7.0, and most MIDI files within the program won't play back. MIDI clips from within the demo projects included with the software play back fine, but MIDI files that I import or record from an electric piano make no sound. Also, if I export the MIDI that I recorded from the piano as a MIDI file (typ 1 or 0), it will not play in other audio programs.

The MIDI output device is listed as DLS Soft Synth, but the tracks won't play. Could it be some kind of codecs I'm missing? The same thing happens with our other house computer, and the troubleshooting advice in the program's Help file, well, hasn't helped. Sorry for what's probably a dumb question, but I'm new with this kind of software and don't know where to look within the program to try to fix it. Any help would be much appreciated.

We need more information to help you.

You record MIDI files from an electric piano? That doesn't seem too possible to me. An electric piano only sends out audio signals, not MIDI. If you mean you were using a MIDI keyboard, or a synthesizer, then never mind.

If you export a MIDI file, it will still need a MIDI-capable program to play back. You would have to Render the file as an audio file (.WAV, .MP3, etc.) in order for an audio program to play it.

You should go into the Options menu (it's under Tools, I think) and click on the MIDI Device tab. Choose your keyboard as the MIDI input.

Tell us more based on what I've said, and we'll go from there.
