Guys, I really don't feel bad about doing a little shameless self promotion here, seeing as how I used Acid for this project, but mods, if I'm in the wrong, delete away! In the southeast, we have a gas station chain called Sheetz. During May-June, they opened a contest to promote their coffeehouse-style coffee drinks where you write a poem, perform it on video, and submit it to youtube to enter. The grand prize was a $5000 gift card good for anything they sell, so I decided to give it a go. I used Acid w/Kompact to create the jazzy music bed. It was my first start-to-finish project employing sequencing using Acid, so naturally, I learned a lot in the process. Acid really is a great program, especially for a guy like me coming from an era of painstaking drum machine programming. This past week, I found out that I was chosen to be in the top five for public voting. This means that I have at least won a $250 gift card, even if I don't place first. But if you want to help a fellow Acid user, head over to www.sheetzpoet.com, click the Vote Now link at the top, and vote for Randy Hayes. Hope you enjoy the video (edited in Vegas, btw), and remember that you can vote once a day through July 25th! Thank you Sony for great software, and thank you user community for your support. |

I liked that. "Empty like this metaphor".. hehe. BTW, if you make a lot of music, do you you know about acidplanet.com? Just curious. Great place to showcase stuff. Good job on the video. |

Well, Randy, I took a look at all the videos. I'm opposed to any sort of ballot-stuffing or vote rigging, so I ended up voting for the best of the finalists. Which is yours, naturally. I like the beat poets, and your video, words and music (not to mention the goatee) are truly "beat". Good production values too. Good luck! |

My sincere thanks to everyone who has replied and voted. Ironically, I had to be out of town and totally away from the computer for the first week of voting, so thanks for helping me out. Don't forget to vote once a day through July 25, 2008 (this Friday)!!! |
