Is there a way within SoundForge to create MP3 files which are "loop ready". AFAIK, mp3's create this "bit reservoir" at the beginning and start of a file, which means when I loop MP3's using external host software there is always glitching as the loop resets. How can I avoid this? Thanks... |

That's extremely useless advice, thanks. FYI I'm an anti-mp3 snob with the best of them, but I have a specific commercial need for this functionality in MP3, and I have seen it done (looping with mp3 files) before successfully, I just have no idea how. For the record there are specific situations and applications where people have no choice but to use mp3. I don't like it any more than you do, but it's the commercial reality. I really didn't think this needed to be explained, but I guess it did. So I'll ask again. Does anyone know a viable solution for getting around the moment of silence preceeding and following an MP3 file to make it suitable for looping? Please post only actual solutions... Thanks in advance.. |

Disregard previous post (except the narky stuff about Chienworks being unhelpful). For anyone interested, one solution is here, but it ain't that elegant... http://www.compuphase.com/mp3/mp3loops.htm Also - since the reason I need "gapless mp3's" is for streaming mp3 audio using the fmod engine, it might be of interest to those in a similar predicament to know that the fMod engine actually allows one to implement a solution at code level. Further info for those interested. Firelight Technologies' fMod Engine has indeed solved this problem. If you are using the fMod engine, you can loop MP3's seamlessly. The reason I couldn't was I'm using a 3rd party game engine that was not exposing that functionality from the fMod API properly. For the curious : http://www.fmod.org/forum/viewtopic.php?=&p=29616 |
