HI, I want to move my music library (loops, one shots) from from my D drive to my G drive which is much faster and has more room. Problem: the media manager will loose all files and I don't want to re-find 18,000 media files one at a time. I searched but did not find an answer. Is there an easy way to do this? Note: I've added many of my own tags, comments, etc. I don't want to lose this. The change needed in the filepath used by the media manager is just D to G. Thanks, Rusty |

The media manager help file has a Resolving Offline Media topic. It is under the Finding and Previewing Media top level section. You can display the media manager help file by clicking on the ? icon in the media manager pane title bar. Hope this helps. |

If you want to do all your files in a bulk operation there are a few more tips. Select all of them, right click the selection, and choose save tags and properties to files. You'll likely get the Resolve Offline Media Files dialog to display as it realizes some of the files cannot be found in the original location. If you use SmartSearch and then guide it by choosing a folder and selecting the root of the new drive letter, the resolve will go even faster. The media manager doesn't attempt to verify every file's status on every launch because with thousands of files it would take a lot of time. It attempts to discover offline status and resolve them only when you actually try to do something with the file. Message last edited on6/20/2008 10:01:07 AM byForumAdmin. |

Nice one F.A! Here's another one I stumble across for getting OFF-line media into resolve Menu as a group: 1] Group OFF line media in MM 2] Right click and and GRAB group and GO TO MOVE THE selection by at least one screen pixel as IF going to place the selection within the main Vegas Timeline . .and! POP!! . . . The Resolve menu comes into play with ALL the OFF-line files there ready for your attention. Grazie |

Make sure u copy the hidden files and folders too from one disk to the other and when complete just change the new disk's letter from G to D ( this is done from control panel/administrative tools/computer management/disk management and after u change the D disk's letter to something irrelevant like O,N etc ). This of course only works when u don't have other media on your disks that depends on the disks letters. PS: That's me last post for this summer guys ,i'm off to the beaches. Y'all take care Message last edited on6/25/2008 3:50:20 PM bytascolas. |
