Does ACID 6 Pro play nice with the UAD-1? I read in an older post that said there were issues with the UAD-1 and the latest version of ACID. I've been looking at the prices of some of the higher end audio gear and a UDA-1 looks mighty appealing! ;o) Thanks! |

I have found the UAD-1 very flaky with crash problems and other strange behaviours with Acid version 6d but works very well with Cubase SX 3. Cheye |

to avoid cashes with acid and uad.... always put uad plugs after waves plugs with delay compensation... use uad sparingly towads the end of a mix... most important thing... when switching between songs with uad pluggins in them.....first open a new project, than open the song you want to open ...otherwise the uad plugs wont unload and you will get crashes. |

as long as you do the first and last tip, you will be fine with uad cards, 1. always put uad plugs after waves plugs with delay compensation... 3. most important thing... when switching between songs with uad pluggins in them.....first open a new project, than open the song you want to open ...otherwise the uad plugs wont unload and you will get crashes. the 2nd tip is for being cautious , but its not an issue with A6pro any more... www.myspace.com/ozzborn |

Will try this for sure. I'm wondering is the delay compensation a UAD plug or setting? How do I turn it on? Thanks Cheye |

Hi Ozzborn Can you let me know your performance using the UAD 1 in Acid.? Do you get crackles and static when your card is loaded above 60%? How high can you go without any problems. The reason I ask is that when using my UAD plugs on more that 1 seperate track in acid, playback at 60% or higher is crackly. If I use the UAD 1 card on only one track I can get it up to about 80 - 85% before any crackling. I'm trying to problem solve this and I may have an IRQ conflict with my video card and audio interface card sharing the same IRQ, or it may just be Acid or both. Since you are using acid and the UAD you are my only resource. Sorry to bother and thanks for any feedback you can give me. Cheye |

I have 2 cards and rarely go above 60 percent, but thats because i save them for the end of my mixes. The uad plugs add a diffrent dimension to my mixes. i mainly use la2a , 2 or 3 precision eq 2 or 3 1176 comp 1 or 2 1 neve eq this may change when that fatso plug comes out. I used to have one, back before I went Laptop and it played fine with Acid. Quite miss it now actually, especially the Dimension D. I don't have anything else like that plugin. |

Not happy to report that anything beyond 65-70% on the UAD-1 in Acid, will produce sound artifacts or even cause Acid disappearing/crashing (lol) .I tend to use it as a destructive effects machine,old-school, searching for the correct sound extensively, applying the effect and rendering to new track ,keeping a log of what i ve done and the old wav too in a separate folder, bcoz i couldnt live with the constant crashes . Dreamverb and LA2A is 2 plugs i would be extremely unhappy to lose in my production workflow. UAD and Waves are my everyday jam on my Acid bread. I just wish they did something 'bout the UAD compatibility and Acid's stability in general, instead of producing sic apps like cinescore ... |

***Warning**** To anyone who wishes to upgrade to Vista 64 and UAD plugins using driver 4.10. I get a blue screen crash "hypkern64.sys" when using with or without UAD plugins for any amount of time. Sometimes it crashes my system quickly...sometimes after a bit. Removing the card and driver from my system solves this. I just upgraded my system to a dual quad core 8 gig ram system. [2.5ghz cpu's X8]...I don't think that I'll be going back. Not worth it imho. Ed. |

Yes, UAD-1 starts to die out at 60 to 70% or less depending on latency settings in Acid. Stuttering and bizarre crashes removing UAD1s from effects tracks also occurs. In Cubase 4 I've got the UAD-1 running to 98% at 2ms latency(lowest setting), smoothly running and sounding fantastic. Acid has become a rewire option and loop mixing creation tool. Cubase 4 now has a lot of features and it is very stable. I've been waiting for ACID but now moving on and basically using Cubase as main sequencer and rewiring Acid and Reason. Cheye |
