Ok, let's say I have a short, 1 second synth file that I made. How can I turn it into MIDI that acid can use?

Cheers.

PS: How do I get EXS24 programs to work with Acid?

Do you mean a 1 second sample of your synth playing a single note? Or a phrase? Why do you want to convert it to MIDI?

(1) If it's a single note, you can just make it a one-shot and pitch-shift to get different notes. A bit cumbersome, and won't sound great. Alternatively, load it into a software sampler and use it as a softsynth in Acid. You will need more than one sample to build a decent instrument though. You would normally sample 2 or 3 notes every octave and build a multi-sampled instrument.

(2) If it's a phrase (? 1 second can't be much of a phrase?) you need to convert it to MIDI first. There are some freeware audio-to-MIDI converters that sometimes work Ok. Why not just record it as a MIDI file using your keyboard?

I don't use EXS24, but presumably EXS24 patches will load into another soft sampler, like Kontakt? Have you tried loading them into the Kompakt sampler that comes bundled with Acid (Pro)?

(1): It's .wav file, exactly 00:00:01:17 in length.

(2): ???

I'll try that. Let me install Kontakt.

Ok, it's a wave file. So what do you mean by "transform into MIDI"? Do you want to be able to play it at any pitch by using a controller keyboard?

It definitely sounds like a sampler such as Kompakt (or the full-on Kontakt) would be up AAA's alley. There's a bit of a learning curve there though (as always). Not too bad but be prepared to futz around before getting serious.

Spot on. I want to to be like a Midi instument.

Only thing though is, how do I get it into Kompakt? Let alone an EXS24 instrument?
