I'm using AP 6.0 As I build a song, I notice that I'm getting distortion after about 12 or more tracks. My levels are low, and my master is low. If I isolate the tracks, I have NO distortion, but when combined, there it is. It can happen on as few as two tracks isolated together. I've also noticed distortion/white noise on the sample loops, but not the regular loops. Has anyone else experienced this. I'm running on a dell xps 410 with xp pro system. Presonus 1394 using the Presonus Asio driver. Please someone take the time to help me. I don't know where to go from here. Should I go back to AP 3.0? Spider

what latency and CPU usage is your Presonus 1394 set at? if you can, as a test only, set your latency to 10 ms. if that fixes the issue, you know that you need to ease back on your system. eventually test out your latency settings to a speed that works.

Thanks for answering, Little Studios. As far as I can figure out, my latency is set at 10 ms. enable track buffering is checked and at 0.25. Auto detect and offset for hardware recording latency buffering settings is checked and at 10 ms (441 samples) Am I even in the right area? Should I try hitting the drop down and using 12 ms or go the other way (8 ms or lower) ... which is more forgiving? I really am a novice at this, but a professional muscian putting out CDs every year, I'm stumbling through this program, but pretty confident it is capable of making professional quality recordings if I just get the bugs out and learn how to use it. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated.... Spider

well, you say you're using the presonus audio driver, but do you even have a presonus piece of equpment (ex. firestudio, FP10, Inspire, Firebox, etc.)? I know it may seem like a dumb question.

Yes you're in the ballpark. For instance if your latency is set to 3 ms it will really put some stress on your CPU. If your latency is set to 10 ms it will be easier for you CPU. Latency incase you don't know, is the delay time for your computer to process the audio.

If you do not have a presonus product and are just using the driver, i would suggest using the appropriate driver for your interface / soundcard.

Also, you may want to pay attention when starting Acid Pro. If your presonus gear or any other ASIO external interface isn't turned on, it will search for the next audio interface in line. often times it's the integrated soundcard built on to your motherboard. so you may want to check that acid is using the correct device. to do this simply start acid the way you usually would and go to:

-Options (menu)
-Preferences
-Audio Device (tab)

then select the correct device. sometimes i don't pay attention and start acid without turning on my FP10's and it will default the device to the Microsoft Sound Mapper.

I hope you figure out the issue, i bet it's frustrating

LittleStudios, there is no way he can use the presonus driver without a presonus card. Trying to install the driver without a card would be simply refused by the installer and if he had the card and removed it, Acid would switch to any other existing driver there.

Either way, like i said in my prior post, if the unit is not connect and turned on (depending on what type of unit) Acid will switch the driver to for example Microsoft Sound Mapper.
