When i use the gradient, i get a spline that has a handle each end that can be moved in any direction to resize or reposition the gradient.

No Auggie, it ain't just you. Pro titler is very unintuitive. I don't know, are any of you Mac users? Is the ProTitler UI more Mac-like than Win-like?

Just another example that drove me crazy; when you open one of the effects tabs how do you close the dialog? There's no X in the upper right, there's no "close" link, yeah it should be abundantly clear to all that to close it you have to click the tab again. Clear to whom?

You know now that you mention it, your right.

For example.

When I create the text there is a effect list at the bottom right.
IT DOES NOTHING. I cant drag it, I cant do anything. WTH!

Ive tried to apply it some FRIKIN way to text I create.
and I've tried to create text with it.

it is that way.

I did find the gradient bar which controls direction so that is answered.

I KNOW I KNOW, READ THE MANUAL!!!!
OK I WILL!!!

LOL!

guys the gradients don't seem to work properly.

For example; lets say I have 3 points.
on the far left and far right are black with a center being white.

try dragging the black points in to the center to create a smaller white range. NOTHING HAPPENS.

Is it me or is pro titler got alot of fixing?

I realize it's the first version.

I just don't want to drop a prod suggestion their way if its my dumb mug goofing.

Just leave the text white under that place a generator colour gradient then multiply mask on top make parent the colour is under so set that to anything you want and scale it to whatever
