Seven days later and there's no trace of a single answer at all...lol.

Well, I guess I've found an answer myself, even though I haven't tested the DVD using a widescreen yet. I've captured the JPEG still using Vegas Preview, saved the file and used it as a J.Picture. Original display is 873x480. At least in a 4:3 regular TV set it shows as though it were a 16:9 video file. Who knows...

I could be wrong, but from what I recall & doing a *quick* search I think you're stuck with 4:3. I *think* there was also a thread about it here in the DVDA forum, but nothing shows on search so...

Googling most of the good hits seem back about 6 years ago or so, & again going by memory (which of course may be faulty), interest in jacket pictures faded pretty quickly, maybe because features were so limited plus I think poor player support. I know the DVDA manual barely mentions it.

Googling on DVD Jacket Picture these are a couple of the 1st hits (for those who don't remember them - I only remember it I think because of initially high hopes followed by disappointment):

The DVD spec states jacket pictures support 4 x 3 aspect only. You can read about it here,

as far as I know it's the image on the DVD case. i assume you're not talking about that.

DVDA can create a JACKET_P folder on the dvd with an image you point it to in three different resolutions. This image will appear on your tv screen if you hit the "stop" button on the remote...if your player supports it.

I believe the Harry Potter dvd's have this feature for example.
