The product appears to be forsaken. Many programs have surpassed ACID in functionally and more specifically stability. Improved stability should not be something is addressed every few years in a new version but should be fixed as fixes are available. Just check the forum or other forum groups outside of this forum, complaints regarding stability abound. I own many DAW programs and use them on a daily basis (Live, Reason, Sonar, Traction, P5). I use the tool that gets the job done based on the type of project. I had high hopes for Acid but after attempts to get this stable on three different systems I've shelved the program in hopes that a patch would be released at some point that would stabilize the program. Since all my other applications are stable I have to assume Acid either has special requirements or there is a lack of skilled development and testing. Anyway, like the rest of you I will wait and see. Message last edited on5/14/2008 11:34:38 AM byRickms. |

Acid is probably the most stable music application I have. I can't remember the last crash. I have tried Live, but could never get it to last more than 10 minutes without a crash. None of which is meant to say that Live is a buggy or unstable application. Neither is it meant to make light of your problems with Acid. What I am saying is that you are drawing a long bow to say that "Acid either has special requirements or there is a lack of skilled development and testing". I certainly have complaints about the long lead time for Sony to address some basic funcionality requests in both Acid and SoundForge, but I don't see stability as a major issue for Sony products. The numbers of stability issues raised on these forums pale into insignificance compared against other applications. Of course, that could also just be a reflection of more users abandoning Acid due to lack of upgrades, so there are fewer users around to complain about it! I think the delays in releasing Acid 7.0 are a bigger worry for Acid users - unless Acid 7.0 truly leapfrogs the competition, we may have already seen the best days of Acid as a serious competitior in the music software market. Apple has probably grabbed that market segment with garage band. |

There are known issues with regards to Acids stability. The UAD-1 performance within acid is just one of them. I agree that all apps will have some stability issues, but they need to be updated and addressed. Many other forums also have stability issues of course, due to the complexity of individual computer set ups and systems. For example Acid is much more stable on my new computer set up, but still has issues in some areas which I won't go into now, but I have in the past on this forum. The other apps that I use, do not have the the issues I experience in Acid. Perhaps this points to Acid???? Anyway, updates are needed, and a requirement for stability, and a company that will do this for it's customers will have a happy and healthy forum. An update for Acid pro 6 is long overdue. My 2 cents Cheye |

I'll admit that Acid and Audition 1.5 are the only audio apps I own. But of all the software I use, for animation, graphics and everything else, Acid is by far the most stable and reliable. I can understand the desire for new and more advanced features as reason to be impatient for a new version. But it seems awfully silly that people here take it personally that there is no Acid 7 yet for them to spend their money on. |

I agree, I've had no issues with ACID 6 Pro and I love working in it. I ran Live for a while and I can get around in it but ACID is easier for me to work in. I will run ACID until it goes away or it won't run on my hardware. At that point, I will make the switch to Pro Tools and elastic audio. If Sony releases version 7 next week, great, if they don't release it for another year I don't care. I've been here since version 1 and ACID gets it done for me. |

On my new Vista computer, ACID never closes properly. Every time I choose an effect, I get the Windows Help file for it as well. Then there are the middle-of-nowhere spontaneous unplanned exits. Also, pushing the FX button gets you a five-second wait. But then again, Tracktion wouldn't even start to run, which was really a disappointment because I liked the interface. Cheap/freeware like Reaper and Audacity? Rock solid, smooth as a gravy sandwich. Live works, but meh? Such an unintuitive interface, who wants to work with that? Same with Cubase. I really want ACID 7 to be as stable as Reaper 1.3. |
