Topic says it all. To reproduce: 1. Create a new file. Put some audio in it (silence, whatever). 2. Put some markers or regions in it. 3. Save As... Voila! Your regions/markers are gone! (Whether or not you want to spend an hour regioning out a drum file before doing this or not is optional.) 9.0e build 441 |

Make sure, when saving you have "save metadata with file" selected (near bottom of window). Voila! - Your regions/markers remain :) Hope that helps.. |

I don't know whether to say "Thanks" or click "Report Abuse" ... for you making me feel so foolish! ;) Thanks! (And what a relief!) Does it default to off or on? "Off" would seem kind of cruel considering I probably deal with that checkbox about once per Windows install. I don't recall if I changed it or not. I .......... click stuff, sometimes. |

It does default to off which seems an odd choice indeed. A few other defaults that i always flip the other way 'round are: - Open default workspace on startup - turn it off. This is such a time waster it borders on ridiculous. If i want to open up the last project i double-click on it, and that launches Sound Forge for me. - Automatically reopen the file after Save AS - turn it off. If you've made some mistake such as forgetting to save metadata, this function loses everything irrevocably. - Prompt to open new file after Save As - turn it off. Just another whiny popup that i always answer no to every time, so why bother? - Enable Windows XP Theme support - turn it off. Theme support is the culprit behind many annoying little display problems. They all disappear when this is turned off. |
