This is useful for voice recording. If you must have your recording computer in the same room as your mike (as I do) try using a memory stick as the folder for the temp and recording files. It reduces HDD usage (and therefore noise) dramatically, since the HDD is no longer rattling away, recording the data. Options/Preferences/General - it's at the bottom of the page as "Temporary filesand record folder." I know there are other ways to make a hard drive quieter, but none as easy or cheap as this! |

Yeah, ramstiscks and CF / SD etc are great, but they do have limited write cycles. Oh for the day when an inexpensive, hundreds of GBs, power-efficient , fast` and long-lived solid-state drive is available. Well, to be honest, hard drives have surprisingly limited write cycles too. Hopefully longer than USB memory sticks, but woefully not always. |
