I am trying to save a srereo .wav file as an mp3. The settings I am using are: quality slider - max up 12b bit convert to mono Upon doing a "save as" I see (and hear) that the amplitude of the resulting mp3 file is very clipped. When saving a .wav file as an mp3, how do you keep these amplitudes at their original levels? Thanks, Al Brassell |

Hi Al, Before you convert your audio file to mp3, try using Sound Forge's Normalize function to level out and limit the amplitude of the data. Try Peak Normalizing to about -3dB. This should help to keep it from clipping during the conversion process. Best, Scott -- Scott R.
