Lets just assume that this is what it is intended to be. A BETA for users to comment upon and see how it is. Just assuming ( and praying ) Lets all let the techs know what we think of this thing, but in a constructive manner. This is the hopeful intent of foisting this !@#$ upon us I must hope. SF, you may not be listening to your users about vegas, but I URGE you strongly, this Sound Forge is your flagship app, and if you blow it on this one ( that piece of crap CD writing thing, or no batch converter for instance), you will prolly loose quite a few loyal customers. Wall St. will probably notice this as well. BTW I hope you havent layed off any of your skilled support staff. Just can the ones that told me the peakfile drawing problem was my video card and not a flaw in vegas ( which is still there BTW ) |

Aaron, don't get your hopes up. When was version 4.5 first released? Probably over 2 years ago? And this is there answer to it? Professional audio people have been abandoned just like CD architect in this release. Sonic Foundry has realized that they are not a technology leader anymore and are currently a technology follower trying to catch up. They are abandoning the professional audio user in favor of developing a 50 dollar, average consumer piece of software that they can sell in every Best Buy and Office Depot across the nation. That way they can let the pros like digidesign take the cost risks in development and they'll just develope what becomes popular with the average consumer, like MP3. They'll now advertise this "NEW" release, screaming about sample rates up to 192Khz with 32bit resolution...the highest in the industry and how you can burn tracks directly to CD right from soundforge!!! And the average consumer will look at this as being the best, when the rest of the pros like you and me will shake our heads in disbelief. Look at their current trends with the releases of Siren, Viscosity and Video Factory. Nothing but bullshit, 50 dollar software packed with hype words that the consumer will eat up. I've even noticed that Ted, has stopped answering posts on this forum since this release and he's here responding almost everyday on the Sound Forge forum. This is probably because Sonic Foundry has laid him off, or he knows that everyone complaining about this release is right and he's embarrassed to reply. Don't worry Ted, you're not the only one embarrassed over this release, I was just boasting today at work, working with fellow employees, doing video editing with Vegas Video and they were amazed by it. Unfortunately I have to hide the downsides of soundforge, a name they're more acquanted with. Aaron Carey wrote: >>Lets just assume that this is what it is intended to be. What a bummer. This is what happens when big money does the thinking. LAME A parallel is in my beloved BMX freestyle. ESPN bought our best contest series. They stuck the word EXTREME on everything, cancelled the beginner classes, cancelled flatland and mini ramps and gave us " street "...yeah, what street do you know with ramps all over it? oh wait they put a car in, ok, now that is soooo street ! I hope the best minds of SF get together and make something right, under SF or outside it. |
