I thought in an upgrade you were supposed to keep the best
things and the essentials. I figured that since you were
discontinuing CD Architect that you would be building it's
functionality into 5.0. It is still the best way to burn
CDs. You finally got 24 bit file compatibility, but offset
that by taking out some important things. And after that
long of a wait, what a disappointment. Please reassess
these concerns before you release 5.0

If not:

No batch convertor. No CD architect. No Thanks

I'm afraid I have to second this. 5.0 beta has the feel of something someone cobbled together in a few weeks in order to declare "parity" with other state-of-the-art products (i.e., Wavelab). It sure doesn't look like something that has apparently been in the works for over 2 years. If this really is the best that SF can, or is willing, to do, then in my opinion Sound Forge is a dead product unless SF is going to reposition it as a $39 entry-level editor, which I certainly doubt.

I believe everyone in this forum agrees with this. I feel
as though, if I upgraded to version 5.0, this would
essentially be a downgrade for me. CD architect isn't
available under the menus and no batch converter. As a
mastering engineer, I find v5.0 not even usuable because of
this. If I have to have 2 versions of sound forge
installed on my system to finally get 24bit compatibility
and have all the essential mastering tools, then I might as
well invest in steinbergs wavelab and be able to do all my
work in 1 program. I guess Sonic Foundry is trying to give
it's original customers of Sound Forge a message, and that
is "We don't want Sound Forge to be a mastering tool!!!"

Still looks like I will be keeping the Borg's wavelab on my
system...bummer!

I believe I must qualify as the most amateur of all posters
in these forums...but even I am depressed that CD Architect
did not make it into SF 5.

Please reconsider.

Hello All,

The Batch Converter is not currently in the Sound Forge
Beta. However, it will be back. The Batch Converter is
being redesigned as a standalone application. It will be
available in mid to late March. For early purchasers of
Sound Forge, we will provide a special offer that will
allow you to download the Batch Converter for free on our
web site. CD Architect has been discontinued and will not
be incorporated into Sound Forge 5.0.
