Subject:Help a rookie learning to work with digital sound; 2 questions

My sound card is the Soundblaster Live MP3+
Question 1. Why is there such a vast difference between the
level of sound being input to the level of sound when you
play the file. File is much lower.

Question 2. I captured a file and saved it in sonic
foundry. I used the default WAV setting. Then when I went
to put it on a CD my burner software picked up all of the
wave and mp3 files in the folder as choices to put on the
CD except the one I made in sonic foundry. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.

Check your Soundblaster mixer. You should have a little
speaker in your SysTray (lower right corner where the clock
is on your task bar). Double-click that speaker, and check
the volume levels. The one that's titled "Wave" will be for
your MP3 and WAV files. There is also a master volume all
the way to the left.

I assume you have a latest version of burning software
(probably Adaptec EZ CD Creator) that allows you to burn
WAV files as well as MP3's to CD audio. If that's the case,
then here's my suggestion:

Your burner software probably will not record a WAV or MP3
file (in CD audio format) unless it is recorded at 44KHz
and 16-bit stereo. So check that in the recording settings
in Sound Forge.
