I have just upgraded to Sound Forge 4.5, and yet Sound Forge cannot "hear" my line input signal coming off of a Marantz Deck. I have done this successfully with version 4.0, without a problem. I have my Volume Controls in Windows set correctly, and there is no logical reason why this is not working. Any ideas, thoughts? |

Hi David, Make sure you are going into the "Recording" controls of the Windows volume control and adjusting the level there as well. Here is a brief description of how to do this: Go into the Windows volume control and select Options>Properties. Where it says "Adjust Volume for", select "Recording". Make sure that the check box associated with your source (CD, Line In, etc.) is selected and click OK. Now make sure that your source is turned up and that there is a check mark in the select box. Please note that if you are using a sound card that has it's own mixer that the Windows volume control will have no effect on the input/output. Ted, I had already taken care of all of those settings. That is why I am so baffled, everything is set correctly, it doesn't make sense. I am almost positive that my sound card does not have its own mixer. Have you heard of anything like this before? Could my machine be the problem? I appreciate any other thoughts you have, no matter how remote the possiblity of your suggestions may be. Thanks a lot, Ted. David, Make sure that you have your sound card selected under the 'Wave' tab in the preferences of Sound Forge. Also make sure that you have the latest drivers for your sound card from the manufacturer's website. How are you making the determination that the signal is lower? By the settings on the mixer? Your ears? Some sort of db reference monitor? Peak levels into the card should not exceed -6dbm. Output levels from the card can be adjusted by the Creative mixer, and make certain you don't have any of those effects turned on. If you have SF 4.5h you can use the real time dbm level display to help you set the level. Charlie Fales wrote: >>My sound card is the Soundblaster Live MP3+ >>Question 1.
