Subject:Auto Region? Auto Trim/Crop? What settings?

What I am trying to do is automatically divide one large file of speech into separate files, according to the spoken phrases and breaks. I have been using a process in Pro Tools called Strip Silence. I think that the Auto Region Tool or the Auto Trim/Crop Process can perform much the same function, but I have been unable to configure the settings in Sound Forge to do what the Strip Silence settings in Pro Tools will do. The Strip Silence settings I use are: (1) On threshold 30 dB down (2) Off threshold 30 dB down (3) Combine if closer than 200 ms (4) Discard if shorter than 100 ms (5) Pre-roll 40 ms (6) Post-roll 60 ms Please help. Thanks |

Hi Mark, Have you tried the Phrase Concatenator 1 preset for the Auto Trim/Crop feature? You may need to adjust the Minimum Inter-Phrase Silence parameter, but I think this is what you're looking for. Then when your file is divided into regions, you can use the Extract Regions feature to save each region as a seperate file. Best, Scott -- Scott R.
