Subject:Special FX Filters? Processes? e.g. "bullhorn", "telephone", etc.

Hi all: I have SFXP4.0 I'm not new to audio editing, but have never done many "effects" before. I'm wondering if there are "plug- ins" or libraries of effects or processes, etc. that, when applied to a "clean" sound file (e.g. me talking into a microphone) will make it sound as if I were speaking through, say, a police bullhorn, or talking via the telephone. My simple mind says, "There MUST be a company that has devised a way to add a pull-down menu to SF that offers, 'Bad Radio noise', 'Police dispatch effect, Airport Terminal PA', 'Long-distance telephone call', 'digital cel phone distottion' etc." Maybe not. Is there such a company or product(s) that would help me accomplish this? Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance! --Rogue |

You have to learn how to use the plugins that you have to their full potential. Any audio engineer knows how to reproduce these simple fxs that you're asking for, using a combination of EQ and Reverb, that's how it's done. Try using an Eq and boosting the frequencies around 1Khz and cutting all the rest and then add a short reverb like a Plate to give the blowhorn effect. The telephone is done the same way but don't use the reverb. Once you play around with these plugins you can make presets of your own.....so just dig and don't rely on software companies to do all the work for you. Hi Daniel, Actually, you can do these types of effects by applying different EQ, compression, and reverberation to your clean sounds. For example, to get the talking on the telephone effect you could construct a band pass filter using a parametric EQ (like the one found in Sound Forge). Best, Scott -- Scott R.
