Subject:Sample rate conversion on the fly?

Hello, I've looked into the FAQ, but it didn't answer my question. Does SF4.5 resample on the fly. i.e. I send it a 48k SPIDF signal and as I open a new file for recording I specify the properties of the file to be 44k. I'm assuming I can, but maybe I'm just not going about this the right way. If someone can ponit me in the right direction I'd sincerely appreciate it. I can't seem to find out anything about this in the help file or the FAQ on the Sfoundry website. Thanks a ton! Respond privately if you wish. Zandersson@aol.com Peace, Zach |

changing the properties of the sample rate does not actually, change the sample rate. I don't believe it will do a sample rate conversion in real time either as you record it. To actually change the sample rate from 48k to 44.1k firsth record it in at 48k then goto the "Resample" menu item and do it there. This works quite well, better than any realtime sample rate conversion. I own a TC Finalizer which has real time sample rate conversion, which I use for mastering, If someone brings me a DAT tape which is at 48k, I always keep it at 48k until I have it recorded into sound Forge and then I do a "Resample" to 44.1Khz. It sounds much cleaner than the real time processing....in fact you're actually better off loading it into sound Forge in the Analog domain then going through a realtime sample rate converter. zach wrote: >>Hello, >>I've looked into the FAQ, but it didn't answer my question. >>Does SF4.5 resample on the fly. >>i.e. I send it a 48k SPIDF signal and as I open a new file >>for recording I specify the properties of the file to be >>44k. >> >>I'm assuming I can, but maybe I'm just not going about this >>the right way. >> >>If someone can ponit me in the right direction I'd >>sincerely appreciate it. >>I can't seem to find out anything about this in the help >>file or the FAQ on the Sfoundry website. >> >>Thanks a ton! >>Respond privately if you wish. >>Zandersson@aol.com >> >>Peace, >>Zach |
