I get no error message, I double click on the desktop icon and nothing happens. I've tried launching it from my quick launch bar and nothing. I've tried launching it from the folder it's installed in and nothing. I've had 9.0e installed before I moved and everything worked just fine. Then I get to my new place, set everything back up, and SF9 doesn't work at all. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times to no avail. Anybody have any suggestions? |

Ah.. Now when you installed it before you moved, you registered it to that address? And thus moving, it's now invalid.. (soz) On a more serious note - any external soundcards? - Have you tried launching it with the "reset to default" method? (hold down shft*(?) when launching) (shift* could be shift, ctrl, or ctrl+shift) |

Thanks for the reply. I have tried the reset to default method and nothing happened, unless I'm doing it wrong. I've never had to use it. I have uninstalled and reinstalled at my new address. Wouldn't an uninstall and reinstall fix the address problem? |

Yes, I have a PreSonus Firebox that I use. |

I wasn't being serious with the address (hence the soz). Was meant to be humour.. I'll work on that.. My initial thoughts would be it's looking for the FireStudio, and not seeing it, and thus not wanting to play. But the reset-to-default eliminates that. Out of ideas atm. |

I figured it out after I replied, so I feel stupid! Anyway, what exactly do I do, just hold down shift 8 question mark then double click the shortcut? |

it's either: shift and launch program ctrl and launch or shift and ctrl when launching (I'm not going to experiement to find out!) |

It's Shift+Ctrl while launching. This brings up a dialog asking whether you want to set all preferences to the defaults. |

Thanks guys. Contacting technical support solved the problem, it being the fact that I had a corrupt install. So basically I had to uninstall the program, delete the Sony entries in the registries, delete the Sony Sound Forge folder including Noise Reduction, then go to MSCONFIG and disable all the Microsoft processes, restart, install the Sound Forge 9.0e product, restart again, and viola, back and editing in Sound Forge. Very bizarre, and I have no idea how it became corrupted. One side note, after doing all of that, I enabled all programs again in MSCONFIG and it stopped working again. So it's just a matter of isolating which program is causing problems with Sound Forge, which I haven't done just yet. But thanks for your help everybody. Eric |

Anti-virus apps (usually Nortons) have been known to cause problems with SF and other NLEs. |

I am getting the same issues. SF9.0e is corrupted for some reason, the app won't start. Reinstalled from 9.0c and it worked, except 9.0c crashes while running wave's native gold bundle plugins in realtime and hangs the machine. I upgraded to 9.0e again and it's corrupt all over again. I get error messages: Module C:\Program Files\Sony\Shared PLugins\Audio\sfmirror.dll failed to register. HRESULT -2147010895. I also get this for sfpack1.dll, sfpack2.dll, sfpack3.dll, sfxpfx1.dll, sfxpfx2.dll, sfxpfx3.dll and sffrgpnv.dll I've also had issues simply using no plugins and only operations like normalize, reverse, fade out, fade in and SF9.0 reboots the machine without any bluescreen. This has happened about 4 times in the last month - actually since installing SF9.0e. I have a Pentium Based machine with 3gigs of RAM, and a Hammerfall DSP Multiface II card. Can sony please provide a utility to clean out old registry entries for Soundforge + Plugins. A normal uninstall does not seem to clear them out and I've been trying to go through the registry to remove them by hand. ReInstalled SF9.0e again - and still has DLL registration issues. Right now I can't work. Message last edited on4/3/2008 11:50:12 AM bygroovyone. |
