Newbie recording question - don't flame me, I want to record guitar tracks one at a time - but I need to listen to tracks I have recorded previously so that I can play along and record additional track alongside what I have already recorded to build up a song. I don't think I can do this in SoundForge. Can anyone recommend the right product for me ? Will I need any special hardware - or can this be done with software solutions on simple hardware. Cheers Adrian. |

Adrian, >>I don't think I can do this in SoundForge. Can anyone >>recommend the right product for me ? What you need is a multitrack editor like VegasPro. I own VegasPro and use it with MOTU's 2408 which is connected to my Tascam DA-88's. This combination works wonderfully well! I record to tape, then import the tracks into the computer, VegasPro, and use Sound Forge and Waves plugins to edit, effect, and assemble the finished product. The 2408 has 1/4 inch balanced inputs for the guitar pickups (or microphones). The newer 2408 Mark II, has eight 24 bit converters onboard! There are other software and hardware combinations other than these, but for ease of use and safety backups on tape, I recommend this avenue wholeheartedly! It's the best of both worlds, analog and digital! You might look at sonic Foundry's homepage and download a version of VegasPro to try it out. You will need, however, a means of getting the tracks recorded into the software. MM. |
