I wish to record from an external source (phono). I have
purchased my lead and plugged into my sound card port.

Once in Sound Forge (4.5) how do I start the recording
process? I must need to tell the computer/software where
to look? What do I need to do next please?

Alan

hello.
First of all you have to be sure source is getting in. Without
starting soundforge verify double clicking on the volume icon (little
yellow speaker bottom right)that: line in is on and going and that
you can hear whatever is coming from your phono-rca socket.

Start SF and select NEW FILE (blank paper sheet, top left) and press
REC (red circle under paper sheet)
Swithc MONITOR on. If source is playing you should see vumeter bars
moving.

Just press the red circle again (this time in the Record window) and
stop recording pressing on the square.

Close window and ... play with your file

Bye, Marcello
