Subject:SF9 drag & drop error? Posted by: pivot Date:3/26/2008 8:42:11 PM So I want to create a new .wav file by piecing together some parts of other files. I set two markers in my source file, doubleckick between them and drag the highlighted part onto the workspace, opening a new file. So far everything ok. Now I click "save" for the new file and an error message tells me that the file may be corrupt...? This one happens every time, so should be easy to reproduce. Apparently it can fix itself... something about a marker (the one at the end?) and the next save click is fine. But if you do this a lot, it's a lot of extra clicks... Is there a way around this? The somewhat worse version of this is - and this one is intermittent, or at least I haven't figured out how to reliably reproduce it - I now want to put the next piece of sound behind that first part that I created on the workspace. So highlight between two markers again, drag it into that newly created file, right click to toggle to "paste" and then want to drop it at the end. It flat out refuses. Something about an "error during edit". I can try many more times and it doesn't accept it. After some time of trying, the target file shows the asterisk (for having been changed, even though it hasn't accepted the drop) when I then save it, the asterisk goes away and now I can drag & drop (I'll be happy to make a Camtasia movie of this if this isn't clear). What might be of use, is using copy and paste via ctrl+c & ctrl+v When you have a selection, ctrl+c will copy it, then, on your new window containing a previously made paste, chances are you cursor is at end - so just hit ctrl+v to paste the selection right afer a previous drop. Less effort than doing it with mouse. (if need be, you can always hit 'end' to move your cursor to the end) FWIW = ctrl+e will paste to new window - useful for that first paste. And when it's happening, Ctrl-V also doesn't work - I tried. so reproduced means it's a bug? I actually prefer mouse controls because I use a Shuttle device(contour shuttle), so one hand on mouse, other hand on shuttle, all fingers only on tactile feedback, eyes on the screen. It's faster than looking down on the keybd to find keys.
