Subject:MP3 and the ID3 tag

Hi -

I have a group of MP3 files that need some trim work and
since I don't have the original WAVs I have no choice but
to open-edit and resave them in MP3 format. The problem is
that the MP3 plug-in for sound forge doesn't seem to pick
up the Album title (gets everything else right) and so for
every song I have to reenter the title in the tag editor
instead of just clicking through and resaving with the
right information already filled out. The problem occurs no
matter what program created the MP3. Has anyone else run
into this?

Be aware that if you process your MP3s this way, you are loosing
quality. If you open MP3 in Sound Forge (e.g. convert MP3 to WAV) you
obviously do not have the original WAV (there is already loss of
quality) and if you then save it as MP3 (e.g. encode WAV to MP3) you
are loosing quality again.

Yes I know I'm losing quality, as I said, i have no choice and the
recompressed files sound okay for what we are doing. My question is
about the ID3 tag reader in sonic foundry and why it doesn't seem to
pick up, even with files ripped with Siren Express, the album title
in an ID3 tag. Curious.
