Subject:Sonar 7.02/Sound Forge 8/Ozone 3

I am posting this in the Sound Forge and Sonar forums. I am having issues with Ozone 3(full version, not bundled), Sonar 7.02 and Sound Forge 8. I take a project in Sonar 7 and bounce to tracks with the 64 bit option for render and the 64 bit engine checked. Then I export to audio rendered at 64 bits using the 64 bit engine with no dither as I am going to use Ozone 3 to dither once completed in Sound forge. The problem is that when I open sound forge and then choose a .wav file that I have exported, it shows up with no audio? Just two straight lines (no waves)? Now when I open the file directly from Sonar (tools/Sound forge) it shows up (I think, it was late last night) Also, when exporting I get a message asking for some “sub” coding or something. i.e. 16/24/32iee float/64iee float etc.? Also, when in Sound Forge I chose the Ozone 3 plug in (full version purchased separately) and it shows up in what appears to be Sonar’s x-ray mode ?? I can barely see it???? Also CD architect is showing same issues. I tried to change variables like changing to 32 bit etc. but had no luck. I will retest tonight after work but was hoping to send this out to see if anyone can spot any glaring errors in my process. The x-ray thing is very weird because it is not even a feature in sound forge?? Also, I can't quite figure out how to dither with Ozone 3 in Sound Forge, I have the dithering manual from Ozone, but it doesn't seem to work the way they state in Sound Forge. I appreciate your suggestions and thoughts, Thank you in advance, Al |

Export/bounce/render/whateverSonarcallsit to 32bit wave file. There are several options when rendering in all programs - what does Sonar let you specifiy as a render format type. With wave, there are variants on that. If you know exactly what you're rendering, then we can understand better what you have. Saying that, someone more familiar with Sonar might be able to give you explicit answers you need. As for Ozone appearance in SF - odd one that. HAve you "organised" your plugs - and are you using the DX or VST version in SF? I would use VST everytime - (I don't even know if SF8 supports DX plugs) |

As far as rendering, it is in the audio options area where you choose (globally) youre bit depth and type i.e. rectangle triangle etc. that is used whenever you render an audio file whether you combine(bounce) two tracks together, or Export (master etc.) a single wave, Sorry I am not better at explaining this as i don't quite get it completely myself. " (I don't even know if SF8 supports DX plugs)" Since Sony's own plugins are DX only, I sure would hope so! ;-) |

Well I have learned that I have 2 instances of Ozone 3, one is the DXI and the other the VST. When I open the VST it has the "x-ray" problem, when I open the DXI it works fine ?????? I would have thought it would be the other way. Anyway, how do I clean up my plugins? Is there an easy way? Thank you, Al |

Click on FX-Favourite| organise Find the ones you want to remove, and select 'hide' - you'll work out what else you can do in that screen (move, rename etc, add 'catagory' folders or whatever you want) |
