Getting xp30 music recorded into SoundForge -Sound Forge - PC

I just bought Sound Forge for my son to use with a Roland XP30 synth. We have used Cakewalk for midi recording but want to upgrade to digital audio. However, it it now clear how to record xp30 music directly into Sound Forge without first recoding via midi into Cakewalk and then converting the files from mid to wav for processing in Sound Forge. Surely there is a way to record directly into SF and save as a wav file. Any help appreciated. Thanks in advance. Doctorwork
