I am using a old junky Yamaha PSR-36 as a controll, going
into my sound card (PC1512) via MIDI cables and I want to
assign samples of audio (and trigger them) to the keys on
the external controller (basically turning SOundforge into
a sampler)......does anyone know about the VMR software and
is it on the installation disk? nate

Hello.

I'm not sure if this would even be possible in Sound Forge.
There are quite a few other programs out there which would allow you
to do this, I would suggest looking through:
http://www.hitsquad.com/smm for a "Virtual Sampler" program.

Thanks!

thanks, i figured a way to do it......basically I open up a .wav and
put all the sounds I want for my "kit" and I then create each sound
event, whether it be a 4/4 beat loop or just a nice 909 kick.....i
assign these "samples" (regions) to the keys on my external
controller....unfortunately I cannot seem to kind a way to trigger
multiple regions simultanously.......as SF is a wave editor and only
one active window can be played back.......is there any way that I
can assign my regions to their respective notes, play or them live on
the external control, record what I am doing live back into the
computer (using ACID to record) or is this not possible w/o another
soundcard? also, I noticed that in the Regions List that the regiond
have a note column and a MIDI channel (1-16) what is the function of
assigning sets of regions to different MIDI channels, will that
enable simultanous playback of regions in sound forge? thanks nate
